Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you need to attend Kinkaid to be a member of the Falcons Baseball Academy?
A) No... the Academy will accept both Kinkaid and non-Kinkaid students.
2. Is there a specific practice uniform?
A) Yes, players will wear a practice shirt, academy hat, purple belt, purple socks, and white pants.
3. Does the academy provide bats, helmets, gloves, catcher's equipment, etc?
A) Academy members must provide their own equipment
4. What bats are legal to use for academy practices, leagues, and tournaments?
A) USA and BBCOR bats are eligible, although it is highly recommended that players use USSSA bats. Please check the Perfect Game website for a list of all banned bats. For example, all drop 5 bats have recently been banned by Perfect Game for the 12U age division.
5. Will my son keep his roster spot from season to season?
A) Players are not guaranteed a roster spot the next season.
6. Where do I pick up my son after practices?
A) You are welcome to wait for him in the stands or pick him up from the back of the parking garage. At the conclusion of practice, a coach will walk all players to the garage.
7. What happens if we get inclement weather?
A) Practice decisions will be made one hour before practice starts. We will not make up canceled practices. We will do our best to make the best decision based on the information we have at the time. Mistakes will happen; grace is appreciated.
8. Could practice be canceled for another reason?
A) Yes, Kinkaid athletics always takes priority over the Falcons Baseball Academy. There will be times when we will need to adjust the schedule or possibly cancel practice if we do not have field availability.
9. How will practice be structured?
A) Our goal is to maximize the repetitions of our players. We will not go into great detail about individual techniques. That needs to happen in a more one-on-one setting. We also feel that scrimmaging is an important learning tool, and we will scrimmage one to two times per month. Grades 6-8 will combine on Wednesdays for a DDS type of practice. This is a high-paced style of practice and has been a staple in the upper school program that we brought to our younger players in the spring of 2024.
10. Do I need to notify someone if my son can't attend practice?
A) Yes, please mark your son's attendance on SportsYou for both practices and games. Practice 48 hours in advance, games 1 week prior, 2 weeks is encouraged.
11. Does the Academy have an injury policy?
A) If your son is injured and visits a doctor, we must receive a note from the doctor with limitations and return to play protocol. We must also receive a note from the doctor clearing him for full participation.
12. Does the Academy offer refunds?
A) Falcons Baseball Academy is a full three-month commitment in the fall and a five-month commitment in the spring. We do not offer refunds.
